The Countdown has started!
This isn’t a holiday:
For us, this isn’t just a long holiday, this is about to be our whole entire life. This was a conscious decision to live differently. More freely, openly and slowly. A new life that involves curiosity, commitment, patience and a surprising number of admin tasks.
This blog exists because we’re choosing to build a life around experiences rather than routines and choosing memories over stuff.
Why we have chosen to travel:
As the end of 2025 began to draw in, like most people, we sat down and discussed what we wanted to achieve in 2026, both of us knew it was travel. We didn’t know exactly where we wanted to go, but we knew it involved our campervan. We decided that amongst the ‘must see’ locations, we also want to see the ‘in-betweens’. The places that you don’t see all over the internet, the places that aren’t so over run with tourists. We love travel that feels lived in. Slow mornings, long walks and just being present.
That for us, is what travelling is really about.
How are we preparing ourselves to leave?
There is SO much to consider when completely changing your way of life. The notices, the bills to be cancelled, the logistics, the healthcare, the income……It is endless……
Right now we are in the beginning phase of our countdown to full time travel. This is the part that we feel never really makes it onto social media, the planning, the paperwork, the legalities.
Whilst I wont bore you with all of that, it is super important to be aware of what must be done before you go and honestly? We are just going with the flow. Its not a regular occurrence to pack up the life you know so well and swapping it with something brand new.
We need to downscale, declutter and learn to live a minimalistic lifestyle. We are not people to have lots of things but its surprising to see how many ‘things’ accumulate over the years. Does anyone else find things to play with when having a sort out? Where you sit in a pile of absolute mess, looking at the thing you forgot you had? Yeah……I think we might lose a lot of time doing this. (Note to selves: Do not admire any old crap that’s been in the drawer for longer than 2 years) You do not have the time!
What this blog will be:
This space is meant to be a real time diary of the journey we are about to embark on. Not just where we go but how we make it possible.
Here you will find:
Honest destination experiences. Some hotspots, some quieter, less explored areas.
A practical insight into full time van life travel.
Real conversations about health, mental health and general chit chat.
Reflections on living with less but experiencing more.
The good days, the bad days, the slow days.
If you are looking for perfection, this blog probably won’t be for you. But, if you are trying to navigate a similar path, enjoy hearing about the chaos or simply enjoy a fun space to read about a couple that flipped their lives upside down for life on the road, then come on in ❤️
We’re not on the road just yet but the countdown is very real.
This is where it all begins!
